Projects: The OEA’s primary role is to prepare economic impact reports regarding all pending legislation that we determine would have a material impact on the City’s economy. In addition, the OEA supports the Office of Workforce Development in the implementation of the City’s economic development plan, the Controller’s Monthly Economic Barometer, and conducts many smaller analytical projects for different departments in city government. I support the Chief Economist in performing all of that work. I work on a variety of issues, determined by the legislation proposed and the needs of different city agencies.  My work involves: reading and reviewing legislation introduced by the Mayor and members of the Board of Supervisors; conducting economic research, including desk and library research, as well as field research, potentially including interviews; statistical, econometric and GIS analysis; researching policy alternatives pursued in other jurisdictions; liaising with the Clerk of the Board of Supervisors, and other city departments as needed; updating and contributing to the OEA web site; and assisting in the preparation of committee presentations, and attending committee hearings.
